My Co-amoxiclav 457mg contains a combination of amoxicillin 400mg and clavulanic acid 57mg.Amoxicillin exerts a bactericidal action against gram postive and gram negative organisms. Clavulanic acid protect amoxicillin from degradation by beta-lactamase enzymes produced by penicillin resistant strains.
